Having booked a couple of safaris to Tinashe Outfitters in South Africa with Mark and Cindy, they convinced me that a hunt with Gary Herbert's New Zealand Hunting would be equally rewarding. Boy were they right!
As usual, Mark and Cindy coordinated everything from air travel to gun permits to ground transportation and accommodation and even planned an evening excursion and banquet. They made sure we were aware of the details, such as making sure that our hunting boots were thoroughly clean and having New Zealand cash to purchase our gun permit on arrival.
Gary Herbert's proved to be everything that I had hoped for and more! The accommodations were luxurious, the staff friendly and helpful, the food abundant and superb, and the hunting was simply great. I chose to hunt tahr with the use of a helicopter which allowed us magnificent views of the mountains and access to remote areas, but others were successful without the use of the helicopter. I also harvested a great stag and fallow buck, thanks to the knowledge, skill and advice of our guides.
New Zealand is a great hunting destination, with a hunter-friendly attitude; Gary Herbert's is simply a special place to hunt; and Mark and Cindy Zimmermann at Select Worldwide Hunting Safaris do a great job of planning and coordination to ease the stress of getting there and getting you and your trophies home from memorable hunts.
